In Germany, arms manufacturers Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann settled a legal dispute over intellectual property rights over the Leopard 2 tank, Reuters reports.
Rheinmetall in Düsseldorf makes the guns for the Leopard 2 and KMW in Munich makes the chassis.
It is noted that KMW filed the lawsuit after a statement by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger in an interview with the Neue Zuercher Zeitung newspaper in March. He said Rheinmetall owns the rights to the Leopard 2A4.
According to the District Court of Munich, the hearing on Tuesday, May 2, was canceled due to a settlement agreement between the two companies.
According to Rheinmetall, both parties sought to resolve the dispute as soon as possible.
“In the statements that are the subject of the lawsuit, neither Papperger nor Rheinmetall AG wants to claim that Rheinmetall AG has exclusive rights to the Leopard 2A4 main battle tank,” the company said in a statement.
Rheinmetall said the lawsuit was suspended by mutual agreement of the parties.
Recall that Rheinmetall received orders for the production of ammunition for € 200 million.
It was previously reported that Rheinmetall introduced the LUNA NG reconnaissance drone, which is capable of carrying up to eight kamikaze drones on board.
