As it became known to the journalist, Semafor co-founder Ben Smith, the conversation between Murdoch and Zelensky, which was not previously known, took place a few weeks before Carlson’s dismissal. The President of Ukraine also spoke with Rupert Murdoch’s son Lachlan, who helps his father run Fox News. Zelensky recalled a conversation with Murdoch Jr. in mid-March in his daily address.
Carlson has been one of the fiercest critics of US aid to Ukraine. The TV presenter’s speeches caused discontent among Ukrainian politicians, who, as Semafor learned, managed to share their opinions with Fox News management.
However, according to a source familiar with the details of the negotiations, the President of Ukraine did not raise the topic of Carlson’s speeches on Fox News in conversations with his father and son Murdoch.
Tucker Carlson is one of the most famous American television presenters. On April 24, Fox News announced the termination of the contract with Carlson, without explaining the reasons for this decision. Carlson himself has not yet commented on the dismissal.
