Last week, Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing the deportation of residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine who have not accepted Russian citizenship.
According to this decree, those who refuse to accept Russian citizenship in these territories from July 1, 2024 will be considered foreigners, and if they are recognized as a threat to Russia’s national security, they will be deported.
They want Ukrainians to either become Russians or leave the temporarily occupied territories. First, it is impossible to turn Ukrainians into Russians. Forced passportization or repression will not help. Secondly, who said that the Russians will live long in the temporarily occupied territories? — the Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine wrote in the Telegram channel.
Vereshchuk recommends to Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories:
- do not take Russian passports;
- do not cooperate with the occupiers;
- leave if possible;
- wait for the APU.
Vereshchuk’s statement is completely opposite to the recommendation that on Sunday, April 30, was voiced by the Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets. He advised Ukrainians in the occupied territories not to give up Russian passports and not put their lives at risk.
