The European Commission and five EU countries agreed on the transit of agricultural products from Ukraine. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis on Friday evening following the results of the negotiations. According to him, the parties managed to negotiate and agree on an agreement that “will lead to the abolition of unilateral measures” and the resumption of transit.

Earlier, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland decided to unilaterally ban the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. This is due to the fact that the import of grain had a significant impact on prices in the domestic market. This provoked a wave of discontent among local farmers.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday criticized the ban of certain European states on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. He noted that such a ban not only violates the existing Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, but also creates room for manipulation by the Kremlin.
Permanent representatives of the European Union agreed to extend for another year the cancellation of EU import duties on Ukrainian exports in order to support the Ukrainian economy. The Council of the EU decided to abolish all duties and quotas on exports from Ukraine in May last year due to a full-scale Russian invasion.
