At today’s meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format, it was decided that the training of Ukrainian fighters on American Abrams tanks will begin in the coming weeks. It was reported by the Associated Press.
It was learned that by the end of May, 31 tanks will arrive at the Grafenwehr training ground in Germany.
“The Ukrainian military will start exercises in a few weeks. These exercises will last about 10 weeks,” the source said.
It is reported that the exercises will not take place with the tanks that the United States will transfer to Ukraine. The United States is already updating M1A1 tanks to send the Ukrainians to the front lines.
According to the source, the idea is for Ukrainian troops to be trained by the time the updated tanks are ready and able to carry out combat missions. These machines were re-equipped to meet the needs of Ukraine.
