All NATO allies have agreed that Ukraine will be a member of the Alliance in the future, said Jens Stoltenberg.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has accepted an invitation to participate in the NATO summit in Vilnius in July and will visit it. This is what Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said when he arrived at a meeting in the Ramstein format in Germany on Friday, April 21.
“I discussed with Zelensky the preparations for the July summit of NATO, I invited him, and I am glad that (he – ed.) accepted the invitation and will attend the summit,” Stoltenberg said.
He also reacted to journalists’ claims that Ukraine had put certain measures for its membership as a condition for Zelensky’s participation in the summit.
“As I said yesterday in Kiev, the future of Ukraine is in the Euro-Atlantic family. All NATO allies have agreed that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance. But the main focus now, of course, is how to ensure that Ukraine gets an advantage (in the war – ed.) Our support helps Ukraine move towards Euro-Atlantic integration, our help allows them to make it possible,” said Stoltenberg .
Recall that yesterday, in a joint briefing with Stoltenberg, Zelensky thanked for the invitation to attend the NATO summit, but said that it is important that Ukraine also receives a suitable invitation. He also hopes that the NATO summit in Vilnius will adopt a package of security guarantees for Ukraine towards membership in the Alliance.
