President Volodymyr Zelensky advised to address a petition for men to go abroad during martial law to the parents of the fallen soldiers.
President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that men of military age should not leave the country when “50 to 100 people a day” are dying in the East.
At a briefing by Zelensky with Polish President Andrzej Duda, the journalist asked the President of Ukraine about the fate of the petition regarding the possibility of the men leaving the country. The petition garnered 25,000 signatures on the President’s website.
“I don’t know to whom this petition should be addressed. Maybe me. Or maybe it should be addressed to parents who have lost sons, who at the expense of their lives have defended this or that region. , this or that city? And you know, that for the most part they are not their cities, where they were born, where now from 50 to 100 people a day can die in the hardest direction, in the East…, ” said Zelensky.
The President mentioned that by law, he has a specific time to respond to any petition.
Recall that the author of the petition called on the President of Ukraine to remove the ban on departure from the territory of Ukraine for men aged 18 to 60 years and restore free border crossing to citizens of Ukraine; to change the order of conscription during the mobilization, introducing the priority of the call of volunteers; to strengthen the responsibility of military registration employees and enlistment offices and border checkpoints for corruption offenses.
The petition was made public on May 18 and garnered more than 25,000 signatures in three days. Now the document is awaiting consideration by Vladimir Zelensky.
