Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) exposed another channel of illegal transportation of men of military age across the state border of Ukraine. The evaders were transported in wetsuits across the river on the border with Moldova.
As told in the DBR, the organizer of the scheme is a resident of the Kharkiv region. Last year he fled from the mobilization, illegally crossed the border. After fleeing, the dodger decided to make money on evaders like himself.
In order for the “business plan” to work, he added three of his acquaintances who remained in Ukraine to the scheme. One of them is an employee of the State Food and Consumer Service, the other two are civilians.
The route developed by the group ran outside the customs checkpoints in the southwestern regions of Ukraine. After the “clients” were taken to the border crossing point with Moldova, they wade across one of the local rivers. For this they were given wetsuits. On the Moldovan side they were met by the organizer.
The cost of the service was 5 thousand dollars.
The third defendants were reported on suspicion of organizing the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, for mercenary motives (part 2 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Two of them are in custody.
The organizer of the scheme, who is hiding abroad, was notified of suspicion in absentia on the fact of organizing the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, the management of such actions, committed by prior agreement by a group of persons, for mercenary motives (part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 9 years.
