Tournament cancellation

hunting tournament North Canterburyin the northeast of the South Island, have indicated on social media that they have decided to discontinue the award “to avoid further violent reactions” to the event, which continues with other adult categories in deer or boar hunting.

Organizers trying to raise funds for a local school said they were “disappointed” with the public’s reaction after last Saturday’s launch of a new juvenile category in which they were going to award about $150 to whoever hunts the most cats in the wild by the end of June.

“Unfortunately, several nefarious and inappropriate emails and messages have been sent to the school and others involved. We are incredibly disappointed with this response,” the organization said in a statement.

Cancellation occurs after the denunciation of death wild cat after infecting a wound inflicted by an air rifle, which alerted animal welfare associations, who expressed their opposition to the hunting event.
