He positioned himself as a “fixer” (a slang term for people who help the media cover events – in particular, they search for stories and interlocutors) and collaborated remotely with the editorial office of the pro-Kremlin news agency Bel.ru, located on the territory of the Belgorod region. This was reported by the press center of the SBU.
He gave Russian “journalists” fictitious and distorted information about events in Ukraine, including the alleged aggravation of the internal situation in Kyiv after Russian missile attacks on the city, the SBU notes.
In addition, they add in the special service, the attacker publicly supported the actions of the Russian occupiers and denied their crimes in Bucha, Irpen and Izyum. The resulting disinformation was used by Bel.ru to prepare fake news about the war in Ukraine.
The detainee also published his anti-Ukrainian narratives on his pages in social networks, including those banned in Ukraine.
The linguistic examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the subversive activities of the defendant against our state, the SBU emphasizes.
During the searches, the attacker was found red-handed with computer equipment and a mobile phone. He was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code (justification, recognition of lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
