At least 16 people died and nine others were injured in a fire that broke out on Saturday in a residential building in Dubai. This was reported by Khaleej Times on Sunday, April 16.
According to the civil defense service of the emirate, last afternoon, rescuers received information that there was a fire in a residential building in the Er Raas area. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was non-compliance with fire safety requirements. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
An employee at one of the stores located in the building told the publication that “a loud bang was heard.”
“For a few minutes we couldn’t understand what was happening. But then we saw smoke and flames from the window,” he added.
According to an eyewitness, several people tried to enter the building to help people, but could not because of the heavy smoke and decided to wait for rescuers.
It was previously reported that a family of three people, including a four-year-old boy, died in a fire in the Vinnitsa region.
