It is reported by Reuters.
Beatrice Flamini was 48 years old when she entered the cave on November 20, 2021, where she celebrated two birthdays. The athlete broke the world record for the longest time spent in a cave.
Flamini was born on Friday, April 14, 2023. According to her, the experience of being in the cave was “beautiful, unsurpassed”, and the time flew by. When asked if she ever considered pressing the emergency button or leaving the cave, she replied:
Never. In fact, I didn’t want to go out.
Underground, Beatrice Flamini did physical exercises, painted and knitted woolen hats. She took two GoPro cameras to document her time, a thousand liters of water, and read 60 books in that time. The cave had electricity, athletes supplied food and water, but she did not receive any messages from outside. Flamini says she enjoyed the silence.
Flamin was observed by a group of psychologists, researchers, speleologists (specialists in the study of caves) and athletes. Her experience is being studied by scientists from Granada and Almeria, as well as the Madrid sleep clinic, to determine the impact of social isolation and extreme temporal disorientation on people’s perception of time, neuropsychological and cognitive impairments are possible.
