The Sudanese army says the Rapid Reaction Force is trying to take over its headquarters and overthrow the government.
Shooting and clashes continue in Sudan’s capital – media reports of an attempted military coup in the country. Military equipment and artillery were deployed in the streets, the sounds of firing could be heard near the headquarters of the state army and the Rapid Reaction Force (RSF), Reuters wrote.
The RSF accused the army of a “violent attack” and said the military surrounded their base and opened fire with heavy artillery. It was learned that what was in question was a “massive attack” using various types of weapons.
The Sudanese army responded by accusing the RSF of attacking army posts. An Al Jazeera source told the army that the Rapid Reaction Forces tried to attack the headquarters of the General Command.
The media published videos of clashes and shootings, Al Jazeera reported that the international airport of the capital of Sudan has suspended work.
