BILD columnist Julian Repke spoke about the journey by car from Germany to Denmark. According to him, border controls have been established on the road between the countries, violating the rules of the Schengen agreement.
It assumes that borders within the EU can be freely crossed without checks. Border controls can only be introduced temporarily due to security concerns. In April 2022, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled that his recovery could not exceed six months.
However, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Denmark and France have maintained border controls since 2016, constantly extending their term. For example, the Danish authorities last extended it from November 2022 to May 2023. Among the reasons they named the war in Ukraine, fleeing the mobilization of Russians, terrorism and smuggling.
Repke calls it “permanent illegal border control within the Schengen area.” According to the journalist, he was let through without inspection, like another car with German numbers. But the citizens of Poland were forced to get out of the car.
Ukrainians and their neighbors have become scapegoats for constant selective checks on Germany’s borders, writes Repke.
