The official ban on participation in competitions, where Russians and Belarusians are allowed, was published by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine published a decree banning the participation of Ukrainian athletes in competitions in which Russians and Belarusians compete.
According to the document, the restrictions apply to all representatives of Olympic, non-Olympic and Paralympic sports. In addition to the participation ban, the relevant authorities were instructed to recall official delegations from business trips in case of participation in tournaments where Russian and Belarusian athletes compete.
“If the facts specified in paragraph 2 of this order (on recall from business trips – ed.) are revealed, the persons responsible for the business trip of the relevant official delegations must ensure the return of the participants of these official delegations on the territory of Ukraine or in the places where they were sent,” the document said.
Also, sports federations are recommended to monitor the possible participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions and inform the Ministry if such facts are revealed.
And the heads of independent divisions of the ministry structure now have to monitor the participation of representatives of all Ukrainian sports federations with national status, as well as athletes representing them in international sports competition with the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers said that Ukrainian athletes will not participate in competitions where athletes from Russia and Belarus are present, however, then it is not yet formal. After this, the International Olympic Committee criticized the government’s decision.
Recall that the IOC has given its recommendations regarding Russian and Belarusian athletes.
