A Russian mine exploded near the machine room of power unit No. 4 of the Russian-occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The Energodar Telegram channel reported this on Thursday, April 13.
“The sounds of the explosion were heard by Ukrainian nuclear scientists who continued to work at the ZNPP. However, the Russians tried to ‘calm down’ the workers and quickly covered up the traces so that the IAEA experts could not see them, ” the statement said.
The Russian occupiers themselves admitted that “the explosion was mine”
The actions of the Russian occupiers, who continue to turn the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant into a military base by mining around it, “cannot have consequences,” notes the Telegram channel.
As is known, a permanent mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency has been operating at the ZNPP since September 2022.
The head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, visited the ZNPP twice – in September 2022 and in March 2023 “to prevent a nuclear disaster.”
It will be recalled that Grossi previously said that near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant captured by the Russians, the fighting intensified.
