These files, posted on the Internet, contain disclosures that USA would spy on the president’s national security advisers Yoon Seok Yeol on the sidelines of an initiative to ensure security in the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
On Tuesday, in an attempt to downplay the issue, President Yong’s office said a “significant number” of these documents were fake, while the national security adviser said there was no “malicious intent” in the incident.
But the revelation drew national criticism.
“The government needs to look into these alleged eavesdropping and, if confirmed, should receive a formal apology and assurances that the United States won’t do it again,” he said Wednesday. Lee Jae Myungleader of the Democratic Party, in opposition.
The opposition claims
Several opposition MPs accused the government of trying to ignore the incident and soften relations with the United States ahead of Yun’s visit to the US. Washington this month.
In recent weeks, dozens of photographs of the documents have been circulated on social media and messaging services such as Twitter, Telegram and Discord.
He Pentagon He indicated that he was trying to determine whether the documents were genuine and that at least one of them had been forged.
However, there are US officials who seem to believe that many of the documents are correct. (AFP)
