Counterintelligence of the Security Service neutralized a group of informers in a special operation in the liberated districts of the Kharkiv region. This was announced on April 11 by the SBU press center.
The traitors turned out to be two residents of de-occupied Volchansk, who were lured by the Russian Federation to conduct reconnaissance and subversive activities in the east of the region. The attackers collected intelligence for the occupiers about the deployment areas and movements of the Defense Forces in the territory of the Volchansk community.
First of all, the Russian invaders were interested in information about the arrangement of defense lines along the Russian border and points of temporary deployment of Security Service and National Police units. The aggressor is also interested in information about the current socio-political situation in the border region, points for providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
The Russians needed intelligence to prepare sabotage and conduct rocket and artillery shelling on Ukrainian targets.
According to the investigation, one of the members of the enemy group was a local resident, who, immediately after capturing part of the region, went to voluntary cooperation with the Russian Federation. At the same time, he began to conduct hostile reconnaissance activities only at the beginning of 2023.
Subsequently, the defendant involved his acquaintance in subversive activities, which he then brought into direct contact with the FSB. To communicate with the Russian special services, the defendants used the Telegram messenger in compliance with the conspiracy measures.
During the searches of the places of residence of the criminals, mobile phones with which they used to communicate with the FSB were found.
Those detained were informed of the suspicion. Currently, he has chosen a measure of detention – detention without the right to bail.
