Russian Aeroflot sent its Airbus A330-300 liner for repairs to Iranian carrier Mahan Air.
For the first time in history, Russia has sent its aircraft to Iran for repairs amid massive anti-Russian sanctions imposed over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. About it in relation to the Russian press service Aeroflot reported the Russian propaganda news agency RBC on Monday, April 10.
“The Airbus A330-300 wide-body airliner with registration number RA-73700 flew to Tehran, where the aircraft was serviced by technical specialists of the largest Iranian carrier Mahan Air,” it was reported.
Aeroflot discussed the possibility of staying in Iran for several months.
The main task of dispatch is the maintenance of the landing gear of the aircraft. Previously for these purposes Aeroflot used the power of other providers, especially Hong Kong HAECO.
The carrier signed a new long-term agreement for the maintenance and overhaul of aircraft parts with this company in the summer of 2021. However, international sanctions imposed in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have affected in repair services and the supply of spare parts to Russian carriers.
It should be remembered that the media found out that Turkey continues to refuel the aircraft of Russian airlines despite the sanctions, due to the fact that there is no complete ban on refueling and servicing airliners from Russia.
Russia says it has lost 75 aircraft since the sanctions were imposed
