Earlier, Polish farmers threatened to block the Yagodin-Dorogusk checkpoint for three days if the issue of selling Ukrainian grain in Poland is not resolved.
Kyiv proposed to temporarily drastically limit or even completely suspend grain exports to Poland due to the dissatisfaction of Polish farmers with the fact that cheaper Ukrainian grain undermines local prices.
This was announced by Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus at a press conference after a meeting at the border checkpoint in Doroguska with his Ukrainian counterpart Nikolai Solsky.
At the same time, as noted by Telus, the restrictions will not affect grain, following in transit through Poland to other countries.
After the start of the Russian invasion and the blockade of its Black Sea ports, Ukraine was forced to ship most of its grain exports by land, primarily through Poland and Romania.
However, these countries were not ready for transportation of such magnitude, and a significant part of the grain, which was intended for the markets of Africa and the Middle East, was collected there, collapsing prices and causing discontent among local farmers.
This created significant problems for the Polish government, which traditionally relies on rural voters, ahead of the general elections scheduled for October.
