“The infection was part of a chronic hematological disease that he had been a carrier for a long time: chronic myelomonocytic leukemia,” he said.

Leukemia is not chronic, he said, and the current therapeutic approach is to treat the lung infection.

On Thursday, sources told the Ansa news agency that Berlusconi was responding well to chemotherapy and treatment for a lung infection. They added that the state of the policy compared to the previous day.
