The enemy forms these subunits as part of front-line formations mainly from reservists. Each Storm-Z company consists of 100 fighters and is designed to conduct military operations in cities or in difficult geographical areas in order to capture important objects – strongholds, command posts and communication centers. This is stated in a new report by the American Institute for the Study of War, which refers to the data of an unnamed Ukrainian reserve officer, whom the ISW considers a reliable source.
According to analysts, Russia can deploy these assault companies along the Avdeevka-Donetsk front line, where units of the Southern Military District are actively involved in continuous unsuccessful offensive operations. However, it is unlikely that these units will be effective in combat, because attack aircraft receive only a maximum of two weeks of accelerated training.
This time is too short to learn how to perform complex combat missions even for military personnel with experience and achieve combat coherence, the Institute notes.
Recall that ISW analysts said that in Bakhmut, Russian paratroopers are working with thermobaric flamethrowers. However, experts are sure that the use of the TOS-1A Solntsepek flamethrower system by the enemy is unlikely to give the invaders a decisive advantage.
