In the southern part of Japan, the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the country’s self-defense forces along with the military disappeared from the radar.
The Japanese Coast Guard has found wreckage near Miyako Island, believed to belong to a previously missing UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Near Miyako’s nearby island, Irabu, fragments of the plane’s propeller were found, as well as spilled fuel. This was reported by Kyodo on Friday, April 7, citing the Japanese Coast Guard and a source in the country’s defense department.
It was noted that it was an American-made Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter stationed at the Takayubaru garrison in Kumamoto Prefecture.
10 military men were on board the helicopter, with them – the division commander, their fate is unknown.
“The helicopter took off from Miyako Island for routine patrols. The total duration of the flight did not exceed one hour, and the weather conditions were normal,” the publication reported.
Japanese Coast Guard ships went out to search.
Earlier, the media reported that helicopters collided during training in the United States, killing nine soldiers.
