Swedish prosecutors believe a government-sponsored group was behind the gas pipeline explosion.
The main scenario for the explosion of the Russian Nord Stream gas pipelines in September 2022 is the involvement of state structures in it. At the same time, private initiative is only theoretically possible. This was said by Swedish prosecutor Mats Ljungkvis in a commentary to the Reuters news agency on Thursday, April 6.
He argues that the “clear underlying scenario” is that a state-sponsored group was behind the bombing. However, the involvement of an independent group is “theoretically possible”.
According to him, the type of explosive used in the explosions did not include “a significant part of the actors.”
In an official statement by Mats Ljungkvis on the website of the Swedish prosecutor’s office, it is said that the investigation of explosions in gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2continue.
The investigation is being conducted by the Swedish Security Service under the direction of the Public Prosecutor of the National Security Division of the Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office.
According to him, the incident became an open arena for various attempts at influence.
Recall that the Danish Energy Agency, a few weeks before the explosions in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, received 16 reports of drone and ship activity at sea or underwater energy facilities.
