The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the former rector of the temple of the UOC-MP, who blessed the occupiers of Kharkiv region. We are talking about the 63-year-old Alexander Sviridov, the archpriest of the Izyum Diocese of the UOC-MP.
During the occupation of the Kupyansky district of Kharkiv region, he organized religious events, including a religious procession on the occasion of the Day of the Baptism of Kievan Rus. He publicly glorified the “liberators”, blessed and consecrated enemy equipment.
During the liberation of the Kharkiv region, the attacker and his family fled to Russia. There he was appointed rector of the Orthodox parish of St. John the Baptist Church of the Tver and Kashin diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, the SBU said in a statement.
Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition of lawfulness, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). Investigative and operational actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. The investigation is being conducted by SBU officers under the procedural leadership of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
