The officer, through an intermediary, planned to transfer money to change the measure of detention, which was not related to detention.

The deputy head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine was exposed while trying to pay a bribe in the amount of 150 thousand dollars for changing the measure of restraint. The State Bureau of Investigation reported this on Tuesday, April 4.

“Employees of the SBI, together with the Office of the Prosecutor General, exposed the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine as preparing to pay a bribe for changing his preventive measure in the case of illegal alienation of property for more than 138 million hryvnias. The official planned to transfer 150 thousand dollars through an intermediary to change the preventive measure, not related to detention,” the statement said.

The State Bureau of Investigation reminded that in December last year they reported the suspicion to the Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine. It was documented that in 2019, together with other officials, he made a decision on the illegal transfer of the building of the state resort balneological hospital in Kyiv to a private enterprise. According to the conclusion of the judicial appraisal and construction expertise, the total cost of the premises reached more than 138 million hryvnias. The hospital, which was not subject to alienation, was also sold at a lower price.

The officer was then informed about the suspicion of the fact of embezzlement of another person’s property, abuse of the officer’s official position, committed by a group of people through prior conspiracy, in a particular large scale (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In December, the court of first instance chose a measure of restraint for the official in the form of detention with an alternative in the form of bail in the amount of 124 million hryvnias, and also removed him from the position of deputy chairman of the Trade Federation Unions of Ukraine for two months. This decision was extended several times.

Earlier it was reported that we can talk about Viktor Saenko – Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine. Information was made public that he owned a chain of Rhino strip clubs, a luxury yacht, a fleet of cars and a “pile of real estate.”
