After Greg Gutfeld was criticized for his analysis of Donald Trump’s arrival in New York on Monday, his colleague Martha MacCallum pointed out that Fox News did the exact same thing.
“The media freaks out at the thought of Trump being handcuffed,” Gutfeld said, ridiculing other cable news outlets for showing Trump’s plane landing at LaGuardia Airport and discussing the former president’s impeachment.
“I love how, Martha, the press covered his arrival like it was OJ [Simpson] in the White Bronchi,” Gutfeld said. “And all these people want him back because he pays the mortgage. It’s what makes everyone watch the news.”
“We covered it like that,” noted MacCallum, host of “The Story,” who repeatedly broadcast a live photo of LaGuardia in the first 20 minutes of the program until Trump’s plane lands. A Fox News correspondent also reported live from outside the Manhattan district attorney’s office.
MacCallum joined Gutfeld in criticizing the media.
“What I noticed is that, you know, there was a lot of joy at the beginning of this impeachment process,” he said. “Now they are angry. Because they are upset that people are paying attention to the coroba. They are shocked that the polls are doing well. They are horrified by this [Trump] they raised $7 million this afternoon and they were very grumpy, I noticed, this afternoon.
Trump flew to New York from his Florida estate on a private jet to face charges stemming from a cash payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. Trump is expected to turn himself in to the district attorney’s office on Tuesday from Manhattan. He will likely be fingerprinted before entering a courtroom to plead, where he is expected to plead not guilty.
