Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented Chernihiv with the Hero City badge. The head of state announced this on his Telegram channel on Monday, April 3.
“I have the honor today to celebrate the struggle of the city of Chernihiv, in general, the heroism of the region. And to convey to Chernigov the sign of the City of Heroes, the city of heroes,” he said.
According to him, a year ago, the victories of our people in the battles for the regions of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kiev revealed the truth to the world.
“The truth about what Ukraine is. The world has seen not only the courage and determination of Ukrainians, not only the indestructible Ukrainians and Ukrainians. The world has seen that Ukraine is capable of emerging victorious from this war – the war for Ukraine,” the president said.
He also added that this is a fundamental change in the attitude towards our state, among all Ukrainians.

As reported, a temporary city leader was appointed in Chernihiv. Oleksandr Lomako, secretary of the city council, according to the current law, will act as the mayor of Chernihiv.
