Volodymyr Zelensky wants Vladimir Putin “to spend the rest of his life in the basement, with a bucket instead of a toilet.”
Ukraine seeks peace with Russia in the future, but this can only be achieved by defeating the aggressor country on the battlefield. President Volodymyr Zelensky said this, Ukrinform reported on Monday, April 3.
“We want peace, but how can we achieve peace with Russia? Only by winning the battlefield in our country, in our land, to stop Russia. Otherwise, after Ukraine, it will go to Europe, and you will see (here) the result (of Russian aggression – ed.),” Zelensky told reporters during a visit to the village of Yagodnoye, Chernihiv region, on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of the village from the Russian invaders.
The President assured that all temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine will be liberated, and if Russian troops do not leave there, they will be destroyed.
“I will not talk about specific things, because we cannot give the terrorists from the Russian Federation the opportunity to prepare for our methods and measures for de-occupation. But we will do it, and they should know about it. They still have time to get out of there, otherwise we will destroy,” said Zelensky.
He did not say exactly when the Armed Forces of Ukraine would be ready for a counteroffensive, but assured that the military was preparing “to be strong in battle and de-occupy our land.”
It was also reported that on the anniversary of the liberation of the village of Yagodnoye, Zelensky visited a basement school where the Russian occupiers held civilians hostage for almost a month.
Along with the President, German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck and German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen visited the school.
Looking at the place where the occupiers tortured local residents, Zelensky said that he could ask Russian President Vladimir Putin “to spend the rest of his life in the basement, with a bucket instead of a bathroom.”
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that this week will be especially important for the defense of Ukraine, for the transition to victory.
