The exhibition became part of complex measures to consider the issue of establishing an international tribunal against Russia at the UN.
An international exhibition “Ukraine. Tribunal. Crucifixion” opened in New York near the UN headquarters, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the liberation of the city of Bucha in the Kiev region from the invaders which is Russian. It was found out on Sunday, April 2.
The exhibition was created and organized by the National Museum of the History of Ukraine during World War II and the Bohdan Gubsky Foundation “Ukraine of the 21st Century” with the support of the Office of the President. It was presented in the format of comprehensive measures to consider at the UN the issue of establishing an international tribunal against Russia for the crimes of its aggression in Ukraine.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by more than 50 ambassadors to the UN, including the United States, the G7 countries, the European Union, Japan, Canada, Australia and other countries, politicians, businessmen, experts, journalists, as well also the Ukrainian military undergoing rehabilitation in the United States.
In his video message on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said: “Russia must be responsible for every burnt village and city of Ukraine, for every destroyed life, for every Ukrainian family destroyed by Russian missiles, bombs and mines. We must punish evil.”
Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, in turn, emphasized that Ukraine considers it very important to create an international special court for the Russian leadership.
“The UN General Assembly must adopt a resolution calling for Russia to be punished for crimes of aggression,” the head of the Office of the President stressed.
The Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, Ambassador Richard Mills, and the ambassadors to the UN from Denmark, Lithuania and Poland fully supported Ukraine’s position on the issue of holding the Russians accountable for the crimes they committed.
The need to investigate and punish Russia’s crimes against the civilian population, children, prisoners of war and the territorial integrity of Ukraine was emphasized in his speech by Bohdan Gubsky.
Physician and volunteer Yulia Paevskaya (Taira) in her speech noted that Ukrainians are driven by a thirst for justice, and that the inhumane crimes of the Russian leadership must be recognized, named and judged by a just international court.
Director General of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War Yuriy Savchuk emphasized that the exhibition is the first exposition on the American continent. The museum plans to show the world the atrocities of the Russian aggressors in the future.
