Since the beginning of the year, the number of Ukrainian citizens who have received official protection status in European countries has increased by 185,000 people compared to the end of January.
Today, 5,008,482 Ukrainians are registered in European countries with temporary protection status. This was announced on Sunday, April 2 by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
According to the UN, from January 31 to March 28, the number of Ukrainian citizens who received official protection status in European countries increased by 185,000.
Poland received the largest number of Ukrainians – 1.577 million. Germany ranks second with 922 thousand Ukrainians, and 502 thousand Ukrainians found refuge in the Czech Republic. More than 123 thousand of our compatriots lived in Romania and another 112 thousand Ukrainians live in Slovenia. More than 173 thousand Ukrainians are in Italy, in Spain – more than 171 thousand. There are more than 191 thousand Ukrainians in Great Britain.
In total, more than 8 million Ukrainian refugees have been registered in Europe since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Later, some of them went home or went to other countries in the world.
Britain and Poland intend to build two temporary settlements for Ukrainians displaced as a result of the Russian invasion.
Remember that in Poland they plan to oblige children from Ukraine to attend schools.
