“What happened in Bucha a year ago is not an isolated episode. These endless killings are part of a bigger plan. The Kremlin’s plan to destroy Ukrainians. Their national identity. The meaning of their lives. Criminals guilty of war crimes will be held accountable,” she noted.
Ursula von der Leyen added that the European Commission continues to support efforts to ensure that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin can be held accountable for the crime of aggression.
“In this context, we continue to support the creation of a special tribunal, if necessary for this. I want justice in the interests of Ukraine and Ukrainians,” said the head of the EC.
He also posted a video of his visit to Bucha last year, with footage of mass graves of civilians brutally killed by the Russian military.
