The owner of the agricultural holding and the head of the State Fiscal Service were exposed for fraud with reimbursement of UAH 3.2 billion of VAT.
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court authorized a special investigation against the owner of the agricultural holding Ukrlandfarming Oleg Bakhmatyuk in the bribery case against the former head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov and his adviser. This was announced on Friday, March 31, by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The court gave permission for a special investigation before the trial of Bakhmatyuk.
According to investigators, in 2015-2016, the head of the State Fiscal Service received more than UAH 722 million in bribes from Bakhmatyuk to provide VAT refunds to companies controlled by the businessman in the amount of more than UAH 3.2 billion.
The decision on a special pre-trial investigation will make it possible to complete the pre-trial investigation against the suspect and send the case to the VAKS for consideration of the merits.
Recall that in early March, VAKS arrested Bakhmatyuk in absentia. Last fall, Nasirov was taken into custody.
Nasirov faces eight to twelve years for taking bribes, while Bakhmatyuk faces five to ten years for giving bribes.
