Austria’s four parliamentary parties (ruling and opposition) condemned attempts to spread pro-Russian propaganda and the far-right Austrian Freedom Party’s (FPÖ) decision to boycott a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by Ukrinform.

Representatives of the four parties, after Zelensky’s speech to the Austrian National Council, supported Ukraine and condemned the war unleashed by Russia, also condemning the behavior of the far right.

“Even here in Austria, as we see today, Putin’s friends are encouraged by the FPÖ party leader Herbert Kickl to deliver Radio Moscow messages here in Austria. And again today, everything is clear presented: Kickl is in solidarity with Putin, but we stand with the people of Ukraine,” – said the representative of the ruling Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), Reingold Lopatka.

The Greens from the government coalition with the ÖVP also expressed Austria’s solidarity with Ukraine and continued support for the Ukrainian people.

And in the opposition parties – the liberal NEOS and the Social Democratic Party – expressed support for Ukraine. NEOS leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger said she was “very ashamed that we also have people here in parliament who cannot tell a victim from a perpetrator.”

Earlier, Zelensky’s speech was announced in the Austrian parliament.
