A Russian father separated from his daughter over drawings by a girl critical of repression in Ukraine has been arrested in Belarus, local authorities said on Thursday.
The man was wanted and captured after he was sentenced to two years in prison in Russia.
Alexey Moskalev “was arrested (…) at the request of the Russian police” and is currently being held in BelarusThis is reported by the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs with reference to Russian agencies.
Moskalev, a 54-year-old single father from Yefremov, about 300 kilometers south of the Russian capital, was placed under house arrest on March 1 after his 13-year-old daughter Maria drew a drawing at school criticizing the Russian advance on Ukraine.
In the picture, rockets were seen next to a Russian flag pointed at a woman, and a child next to a Ukrainian flag.
The principal of the school informed the police, who discovered the girl’s father’s comments on social media against the raid. Moscow.

Moskalev was arrested, and his daughter was sent to a juvenile colony, a “rehabilitation center”, from where she is not allowed to communicate with her father.
Shortly before Russian justice sentenced him to two years in prison for “discrediting” the Russian army, the man escaped on Tuesday and his whereabouts are unknown.
This case has been causing great indignation in Russia for several weeks now and has become a symbol of repression against opponents of the military operation.
Her lawyer Vladimir Bilenko said it was “difficult to predict” what would happen next with the minor. Moskalev could be stripped of custody in a separate trial scheduled for April 6.
The Russian human rights organization Memorial, banned by the authorities, considers Moskalev a “political prisoner” and considers the case “an attempt to intimidate all opponents of the conflict.”
