These Mi-24 helicopters were bought in Ukraine 20 years ago and were not used due to lack of spare parts.
The government of North Macedonia has decided to donate Mi-24 attack helicopters to Ukraine. Focus edition reported this on Thursday, March 30.
“The government … has decided to donate an aircraft (helicopter) to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” the message said.
It is indicated that these Mi-24 helicopters were purchased in Ukraine in 2001. Their resource was exhausted eight years ago, they are not used due to lack of spare parts, etc.
“Some of them have been modernized – that is, two, but this modernization was adapted to the conditions of the past and completely does not correspond to what is needed today, even if we want to talk about development of technologies,” said Slavyanka Petrovskaya, Minister. of Defense of North Macedonia.
It was previously reported that North Macedonia will buy eight new Western helicopters to replace the Mi-24 helicopters transferred to Ukraine.
Also this month, North Macedonia confirmed the transfer of four Su-25 aircraft to Ukraine.
