According to him, the Russian Federation is trying to overthrow the legitimate government in Moldova, Chisinau has evidence of this.
Russia is trying to change the government in Moldova to a pro-Russian one in order to use the country as a springboard for war against Ukraine. This is what the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, said in an interview with the Vocea Basarabiei TV channel.
Chisinau has evidence that Russian special services planned to overthrow the current government in Moldova.
“It is clear that Russia is trying to install pro-Russian authorities in Chisinau in order to use Moldova against Ukraine, as is happening, for example, in the case of Belarus,” Sandu said.
The Moldovan leader also reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement about his intention to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
“You saw the recent statements of the Kremlin that they will deploy nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. This is what Russia wants to do in the case of Moldova. However, today in Moldova there is an independent government elected by its people, working for the benefit of the citizens and therefore cannot be used in the way that the pro-Russian leadership would,” Sandu said.
The politician is sure that Russia will not stop trying to destabilize the situation in Moldova.
Remember, on March 2, the Moldovan Parliament condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The representatives adopted a declaration in which they called on the Russian Federation to immediately stop hostilities in the neighboring country.
The European Union will give Moldova additional support, due to the fact that Russia is trying to destabilize the situation in the country.
