UOC-MP supporters shut down cameras, curse, threaten to beat media workers with sticks and push journalists
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine called on law enforcement officials to ensure the rights of media workers near the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. NUJU announced this on Facebook on Thursday, March 30.
“Near the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, where the commission of the Ministry of Culture arrived today due to the termination of the lease agreement, widespread violations of the rights of journalists are taking place. UOC supporters closed the cameras, swearing, threatening to beat media workers with sticks and push journalists,” the report said.
NUJU called on law enforcement agencies to strictly monitor the tense situation near the Lavra and prevent violations of the rights of journalists in the performance of their professional duties.
Recall that this morning the commission of the Ministry of Culture is not allowed in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The UOC-MP said they do not intend to evict until the trial is over.
At the same time, on March 10, it became known that the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve is terminating the lease agreement with the Holy Assumption Monastery of the UOC (MP) from March 29, 2023.
