Nine soldiers have died in Colombia in an attack by the National Liberation Army (ELN), which is in peace talks with the government, President Gustavo Petro and the army said on Wednesday.
“We have prior knowledge of the killing of 9 of our soldiers” in CarmenDepartment north of Santander (Northeast), according to a media release from the army, which attributed the attack to insurgents THEN.
President Petro expressed his “total opposition” to the event on Twitter. without reference to THENThe President assured that the soldiers were the victims of “those who today are absolutely far from the world and the people.”
