The Ukrainian military has been training to use the Patriot systems since January, but they have not yet been deployed in Ukraine.
Ukraine has received a lot of military aid from the West, but it is still not enough, especially air defense systems. This was said by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview for the Associated Press, released on Wednesday, March 29.
“We have good Patriot solutions, but we really don’t,” he said, referring to the American air defense system.
The agency recalls that the Ukrainian military has been training in the United States since January on the use of Patriot systems, but they have not yet been deployed in Ukraine.
At the same time, Ukraine needs 20 Patriot batteries to protect against Russian missiles, and even that may not be enough, “because no country in the world has been attacked by so many ballistic missiles,” Zelensky said.
He also said that a European country sent another air defense system to Ukraine, but it didn’t work, and “they had to change it over and over again.” He did not name the country.
As you know, Ukraine should receive Patriot complexes from the USA, Germany and the Netherlands. The Office of the President reported the time of acceptance of these systems.
Also in Germany, they said that the Ukrainian military very quickly mastered the Patriot air defense system. And German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that around 1,200 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been trained in Germany in handling different combat systems.
