The Russian cultural and political elite have been warned by the Kremlin that the war against Ukraine will drag on for a long time.
Such a statement at a dinner in the apartment of a high-ranking Russian official at the end of December 2022 was made by the press secretary of the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov. This is stated in The Guardian article about how the head of Russia is preparing Russia for an “endless war” with the West against the backdrop of a long-term full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
I think you are waiting for me to say something. Everything will become much more difficult. This is a very, very long time,” the newspaper quotes Putin’s speaker.
The source told journalists that such a sandy statement spoiled the mood of the guests, who in their private conversations condemn the war against Ukraine, and in their toasts they expressed hope for peace and a return to normal life.
The publication also writes that recently, during a speech to the workers of an aircraft factory in Buryatia, the President of Russia once again fought an existential battle for the survival of Russia.
For us, this is not a geopolitical task, but the task of the survival of the Russian statehood, the creation of conditions for the future development of the country and our children, the war criminal said then.
Recall that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense predicted that Russia could wage war against Ukraine for a maximum of two more years, until 2024. However, if sanctions against Russia are strengthened, this stock will be even smaller.
