While on a working visit to the Sumy region, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the events on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Trostyanets from the Russian invaders and gave awards. This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
One of these days, Ukraine will celebrate the anniversary of the liberation of the cities and villages of the Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions from the Russian invaders, and Zelensky emphasized that these dates are not only about in the events that became the pages of heroic history. of communities, but above all about the character of the Ukrainians who will win this war.
“Ukrainian character is the character of people who do not see aggression, do not surrender themselves. This is the character of freedom, which is felt from birth and is not forgotten until the last breath, until the end of life. It is the character of courage, which allows you to kill even an enemy who is feared by the whole world. The Ukrainian character showed its full extent when Russia went to a total war against all of us, against the state of Ukraine, against our people, our freedom,” the president said.
The names of the officially established military and civilian who died during the liberation of Trostyanets were announced, the rally participants honored the memory of the dead with a minute of silence.
The President also awarded state awards to city defenders, employees of the Security Service, soldiers of the National Guard, National Police, State Border Guard Service, and State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Zelenskiy also paid tributes to four civilians, two of them posthumously.
During the visit, the President got acquainted with the projects for the restoration of the Trostyanets railway station and the square station.
Earlier it was reported that Zelensky came on a visit to Akhtyrka.
