The Minister noted that Slovakia could increase the production of artillery shells from 30,000 to 150,000 per year
Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nagy told a conference on foreign and European policy that the country plans to increase production of 155-millimeter shells fivefold. Bloomberg reported this.
“Slovakia can increase the production of artillery shells from 30,000 to 150,000 per year,” he said.
According to Nagy, Slovakia is already investing in capacity expansion, which should increase annual output to 100,000 shells.
“The number of 150,000 can be achieved with additional support from the EU, which was discussed during last year’s visit of the European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services Thierry Breton regarding Slovak weapons facilities,” said the Slovak defense minister .
Earlier it was reported that Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the Polish state and private enterprises of the military-industrial complex will increase the production of ammunition for Poland and Ukraine.
Recall that EU member states approved the decision to provide Ukraine with 1 million shells over the next 12 months.
