China comments on Russia’s intentions to deploy tactical nuclear weapons

    The Chinese Foreign Ministry reacted to Russia’s plan to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.

    Wars between states with nuclear weapons should be avoided and strategic risks should be reduced, says a ministry spokesman.

    She also recalled that last year the leaders of countries possessing such weapons issued a statement that it was impossible to win or fight a nuclear war.

    Although no one voiced a direct condemnation of Russia’s actions, it is clear that China is not enthusiastic about these “maneuvers”.
