The Sultanate of Oman offers Ukraine to create a grain or grain-food hub on its territory for uninterrupted supplies of Ukrainian grain to African countries.
This was announced by the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maxim Subkh in an interview with Ukrinform.
During my visit, Oman suggested that Ukraine seriously consider the issue of creating a Ukrainian grain or grain and food hub on the territory of the Sultanate. The Omani side also said that if it was created, Ukraine could be absolutely calm about the regular deliveries of our grain to the countries of the Horn of Africa, Subh said.
According to him, Kyiv can get access to one of the most modern logistics hubs, which essentially operates in the Indian Ocean. In addition, Oman has excellent political relations with countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia.
Now Oman’s proposal has been added to the list of countries that we could consider. Our goal is to ensure Africa’s food security. The advantages of Oman are excellent infrastructure, a developed fleet, an understandable transparent banking system and tax rules, the diplomat summed up.
Subh added that Egypt is also showing interest in creating a grain hub for Ukraine on the African continent.
