The ICC itself is now interested in ensuring that its actions are respected, and all countries that support the ICC “will join the behind-the-scenes battle to enforce the warrant.”

Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba spoke about the “behind-the-scenes diplomatic battle” that will begin after the issuance of an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court (ICC). He said this on Friday, March 24, on ICTV.

“Now there will be a big behind-the-scenes diplomatic battle for honoring the obligations under the Rome Statute,” Kuleba said.

He also commented on the situation in South Africa, which ratified the Rome Statute and officially invited Putin to the BRICS summit.

“The question is no longer with Putin and not with Ukraine, but that if the ICC warrant is openly neglected, it will destroy the ICC,” said the Foreign Minister.

Kuleba said the ICC itself is now interested in making sure its actions are respected, and all countries that support the ICC “will join the behind-the-scenes battle to enforce the warrant.”

“It is clear that South Africa will not reject the arrival of Putin, because this is their political ally … But ignore [ордер МУС] “I don’t think South Africa can openly and boldly ignore it… It is better to fight attempts not to execute a warrant for Putin’s arrest than to fight for such a warrant to be issued in principle,” added the minister. .

He mentioned the actions of the International Criminal Court and emphasized that if the court issued a warrant for Putin’s complicity in the kidnapping of Ukrainian children, then the Russian dictator would be among those accused of other crimes of Russia in Ukraine.

As you know, on March 17, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children’s Ombudsman Maria Alekseevna Lvovo-Belova. They are suspected of involvement in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.

Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s chief of staff said his country would not arrest Putin if he came to the country.
