President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot yet launch a counteroffensive due to a lack of equipment and ammunition, so the Armed Forces of Ukraine are waiting for the necessary supplies from partners.
We are waiting for the receipt of ammunition from our partners. We can’t start yet (counteroffensive ed.). We cannot send them (the military – ed.) in such conditions, – the head of state said in an interview with the Japanese publication Yomiuri Shimbun, which was recorded on March 23.
Zelensky added that Russian forces daily fire three times more ammunition than the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Therefore, Kyiv needs additional support from the allies, including more ammunition and Western fighters.
The day before, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine noted that the announced “big” Russian offensive turned out to be very overestimated, and the enemy did not achieve significant success on the battlefield.
On March 24, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny announced that the Ukrainian troops were managing to stabilize the situation in the most difficult direction – Bakhmut.
