The discovered object may be related to a “terrorist action,” Dmitry Peskov hoped.
The Kremlin positively assessed Denmark’s intention to invite the operator of Nord Stream 2 – Nord Stream 2 AG – to participate in the lifting of an unknown object found near the gas pipeline from the bottom of the Baltic Sea. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, at a briefing on Friday, March 24.
“Let’s see what happens next. But for now, of course, this is positive news. It’s positive news when the owner of the pipe is invited to take a very important step in the investigation,” he said.
According to Peskov, the discovered object is said to be located next to a pipe seam and a vulnerable spot.
“The explosion also occurred at the junction, at the seam. Therefore, it is very important, critically important, as part of the investigation, to determine what kind of thing it is, if it is related to a terrorist act. And, apparently, it is ,” Peskov expected.
He also spoke in favor of continuing the investigation: “This investigation must be transparent, transparent, inclusive in terms of the participation of all interested parties there.”
It was previously known that the Danish Energy Agency invited Nord Stream 2 AG to help lift an unknown object found near the SP-2 gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea. According to the latest data, the pipeline operator has already given such permission.
Russia has long insisted that it be included in the investigation of gas pipeline explosions. But in Denmark they say that such permission will not be given.
