Representatives of the UOC-MP have begun the process of leaving the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The contract for the use of the monastery expires on March 29.
This was announced on the air of the national telethon by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Alexander Tkachenko.
According to the minister, a commission is currently working in the monastery, which checks the state of storage of monuments. Tkachenko assured that if the commission finds that something is missing in the Lavra, representatives of the UOC-MP will be held accountable by law.
He also refuted the statements of the leaders of the UOC-MP, who claim that they are not going to leave the territory of the Lavra.
The exit process is underway. Any passer-by in the Lavra can show this. Take out boilers, tables, chairs. Some process has begun, – Tkachenko emphasized.
The Minister assured that the exit process is controlled – representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service are on site, checks are being carried out at the exit from the Lavra.
So, today, March 24, in the morning, it was noticed that the clergy of the UOC-MP began a large-scale meeting – trucks were seen on the territory of the monastery, where they put a variety of things – from provisions to church decorations, reports the Telegraph publication.
Even “church rubbish” is taken out of the territory of the Lavra in a specially marked container. What exactly the clergy attributed to this category is unknown, but there are a lot of such bundles.
It is noted that this process is taking place quite quickly – dozens of monks and, probably, members of their families or parishioners are working on it.
At the same time, Metropolitan of Nizhyn and Prilutsk Kliment said on camera that no one was actually going anywhere, and he described the process taking place on the territory as “ordinary life”.
