Since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s massive invasion of Ukraine, thousands of citizens of other countries who want to serve in Ukraine have applied to the Air Force of our country.
Foreigners can serve in the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, either as pilots or aviation engineers, if they have a military specialty. This was announced on Thursday, March 23, by the representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Ignatt, on the air of the telethon.
He noted that since the start of the war, thousands of foreigners have expressed a desire to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“There are many applications from people related to aviation. These are Ukrainians working abroad in various types of aviation equipment. Everyone offered their help to stand up for Ukraine. Among them are citizens of other states,” the spokesperson said.
He recalled that there are foreign legions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in the fight against Russian aggression on the side of Ukraine.
“So why not. If there is a military specialty such as a pilot, an aviation engineer, then these people can become, on completely legal grounds, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” , – Ignat noted.
He also noted that the demand for such specialists may increase after new aircraft appear at the disposal of Ukrainian troops.
“If we have F-16s or other models of equipment, aliens may appear. Because even the experience of people with extensive experience working with this equipment will also be needed in terms of instruction,” said he.
On Thursday, it became known that Ukraine received four MiG-29s from Slovakia. There will be 13 such aircraft in total.
It was also reported today that Ukraine has requested F-18 fighter jets from Finland.
